Singing Dunes 🎶
The Singing Dune (Aygaiqum) rises about 150 m from the desert floor of Altyn-Emel National Park, between the Ili River and the Aktau mountains. In dry, windy weather the shifting sand produces a deep, organ-like hum that gives the dune its name.
A long but unforgettable day across empty steppe and the wide Ili valley, with a climb up the dune ridge for huge views.
